// PROPER DETAILS - INTERIOR EDITION
They have the ability to stand on their own, making a statement, in the quietest way possible, permeating an effortless elegance, and timeless reverence
Im back, and I want to discuss a handful of interior details I’ve been enjoying lately. It’s no secret that well designed spaces are comprised of a culmination of intentional decisions ranging from architectural design, to finishes, lighting, and furnishings. We may not always have say on the interior architectural details of our home, however we can certainly implement the ladder with a fair amount of ease.
Without further ado - let’s get into some of those ladder ideas;
N0.1/ MURANO GLASS FIXTURES
Right out of the gate, I can’t think of a light fixture that is more chic than Murano Glass. The quality, craftsmanship, and quiet elegance is unmatched. Let’s add Murano glass mirrors to the queue. My favorite quality about these fixtures is that they can apply seamlessly into a variety of genres. They have the ability to stand on their own, making a statement, in the quietest way possible, permeating an effortless elegance, and timeless reverence.
N0.2/ FINE PAINTS OF EUROPE
- I’ve become rather smitten with this application - the juxtaposition between refined gloss and minimal matte, or even a rugged materiality is the type of balance that makes sense to me. Fine Paints of Europe is known for their high lacquer paint finishes that create extraordinary depth in a space. Some sheens are so reflective it’s almost as if your peering into a still body of water floating on the ceiling,
N0.3/ FINE CHINA & CRYSTAL
-When an interviewer ask Joan Didion about using her good silver everyday, she responded with “well, everyday is all there is”; and that’s how I feel about fine china & crystal. There was a time when I didn’t understand the desire to own a fine china set that only gets used a few times out of the year. However, I’ve grown an affinity and even an appreciation for porcelain dish ware and crystal drink ware. I enjoy the formality, the craftsmanship, timeless quality, and poise sensibility. And because the older generations are selling off their fina china and crystal, while the younger generations simultaneously have no interest - you can find these pieces second hand for fair prices. And ps, use them everyday - because everyday true is all there is.
N0.4/ WALL PLATES
This detail is rather traditional in nature - albeit I love the flexibility in that the style of the plates themselves hold the power of dictating the style direction in the overall space. Oriential, utilitarian, pewter, or old English? There’s a plethora of different style wall plates. There are plates that are used for function, and then there are plates that are designed as a work of art. I love this detail in combination with other wall art pieces such as oil paintings. I appreciate the historical, and heritage reference they allude to.
N0.5/ TAPESTRIES ON COFFEE TABLES
traditionally, one of the applications for a tapestry would be to drape over the coffee table. This was purely from a functional standpoint as a means of preserving the integrity of the coffee table. While I appreciate the functionality, I appreciate the texture and visual interest even more. Considering I see tapestries applied mostly to wells, this feels like a fresh perspective.
Until next time,
Dani x
